Trust & Support

Built for the text you don’t want to share.

An input method sits unusually close to your private work. Chiboard is designed so the intelligence lives on your Mac and the boundaries remain inspectable.

On-device by design

Pinyin conversion and the surrounding context exposed by the active app are processed locally. Typed text, conversions, custom terms, and diagnostic logs are never sent for inference or analytics.

Small, explicit network surface

Setup downloads the language model, Chiboard checks a signed update feed, and anonymous reports can be enabled by choice. Reporting is off by default and can be disabled at any time.

Signed distribution

Public installers are signed with Developer ID, notarized by Apple, and delivered through an immutable release URL. Updates are accepted only from Chiboard’s signed Sparkle feed.

Inspect the boundary

Telemetry is public for audit.

The source-available package contains the complete Swift client, closed wire schema, golden payloads, privacy manifest, tests, and collector. The application pins the versioned 0.1.0 release.

Support

Talk to the person who builds it.

For installation help, compatibility problems, or general feedback, email the developer. Telemetry defects may also be filed publicly; sensitive security reports should use GitHub’s private vulnerability form.

End-user license

Terms of Use

Effective 30 August 2026

These terms govern the official Chiboard application and installer. Separate licenses continue to govern the model and third-party components identified with the software.

1. Agreement

By downloading, installing, or using Chiboard, you agree to these Terms of Use, which form an end-user license agreement between you and Xi Nai Lai, the developer of Chiboard. If you do not agree, do not install or use the software.

2. License grant

You receive a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use official Chiboard binaries on Apple computers that you own or control, for lawful personal or professional typing. No ownership interest in Chiboard or its model is transferred to you.

3. Model and third-party software

The Chiboard model is subject to its published Model Non-Commercial and Non-Compete License. Running that model as part of the official Chiboard application is permitted for ordinary professional and personal typing. Open-source and other third-party components remain subject to their own notices and licenses.

4. Restrictions

You may not redistribute, sell, rent, sublicense, or provide the official application or model to others; circumvent its signature or update protections; or use it unlawfully. These terms do not limit reverse engineering or interoperability rights that applicable law does not permit the developer to restrict.

5. Downloads, updates, and reports

Setup downloads the required language model. Chiboard may check for signed software updates. Anonymous reports are optional, off by default, and governed by the Privacy page. Internet availability and third-party hosting may affect downloads and updates.

6. Availability and warranty

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Chiboard is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted operation, error-free conversion, fitness for a particular purpose, or compatibility with every application. You remain responsible for reviewing text before relying on it.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or lost-data damages arising from use of or inability to use Chiboard. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.

8. Termination and changes

This license ends if you materially breach these terms. You must then stop using and remove Chiboard. Updated terms will show a new effective date and apply to future downloads or versions to the extent permitted by law.

9. Contact

Questions about these terms, licensing, or support may be sent to the developer at the address below.
